This place is about 15 minutes walk from Plazza Repubblica. Worth the effort to find it if you are in the area. The staff was friendly and service was good. A nice selection of wines and good variety of small plates. I bought two plates and two glasses of wine for $50. I could have gotten out cheaper but I... More

This wine bar is hidden away from the hustle of the main attractions. We were welcomed by the owner who told us the bar was the first wine bar in the city. It opened 25 years ago. Ordered some glasses of red wine and an Italian cheese and salami selection. The order came with some bread and an unusual spicy... More

The Trimani wine shop is a famous Roman establishment offering a fantastic choice of wines for fair prices. You may thus be tempted to try their little restaurant around the corner. Well, you can do much better in the neighborhood of San Lorenzo where there are many better restaurants. We were two for dinner, we tried a first course that... More

By my point of view it is the best vine shop in hole Rome. Enormous choice of vines from all over the world. Huge italian section from every region. One of the best collection of seasonal wines from local wineries. In the eve place also working like great wine bar with a happy hours daily from 4 till 8, but... More

We visited here for a pre dinner drink on my Dad's 70th birthday. Staff were really friendly and helpful and happy to discuss the wines with us in English. A real experience and one I would really recommend.

Winebar Trimani is a 10-15 minute walk from Termini Station and is an excellent place for lunch or dinner. Just around the corner from the winebar is the large wine shop Trimani. The décor of the winebar is simple, with little space between the tables, a little tight so. Had lunch this time at Trimani. Service is good, menu and... More

A restaurant attached to a wine merchant. I've been visiting this wine bar for eight years and the standards have never slipped. I wouldn't visit Rome without a visit-ever. The wine selection is enormous, value, and I've never had a poor glass. I've never been in the evening, always lunch and I can only report on lunch. You are advised... More

We went for dinner, which was ok. What surprised and disappointed me was the lack of recommended wine pairings. We each asked for wine recommendations for our main courses (we weren't familiar with the Italian wines listed). The answer was basically just a red (him) or a white (me). After a bit more questioning, we got slightly more detail, such... More

Relaxed atmosphere, very helpful staff, good food and excellent selection of wine. Would certainly recommend. We visited this restaurant about 5 years ago on first visit to Rome. We were impressed then and we think the food which from memory was good has actually got better.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
