My wife found this place and brought me back with our son and his girlfriend. We really enjoyed it. Some great artichoke dishes! Enjoy! Buon Appetito!

Last week I was in Rome with some foreign friends and I remembered this place not too far from the FAO. The service was poor and the quality of the food not satisfactory. The saltimbocca were with peas still half frozen and the wine Torello recommended by the waiter had an unpleasant flavor.

Small menu but really tasty dishes, both the pasta and the meat and seafood second courses. The seafood pasta was excellent. Traditional Roman dishes and pizza on offer too. Service is typical old school Italian style. Nice atmosphere and a good selection of wines.

Always go here for lunch and dinners at Taverna Cestia during my many visits to Rome, the food is consistently good and the service very friendly, especially recommend the spaghetti with clams or with lobster, also the grilled salmon. Definitely worthwhile.

Good at seafood as well as meat. Nice pasta variety, quiet and cozy. Better reserve if outside table preferred during summer.

I have gone many times to the Cestia some 20 years ago. Today i wanted to relive the great experience of the past, in particular the fresh and crunchy insalata di mare. What a disappointment expected me. The insalata di mare was from the previous day, the sedan in it began to dissolve itself in the juice and was no... More

Taverna Cestia is one of my favourite restaurants...I, my family, friends and colleagues have frequented it for many, many years...can't remember ever being disappointed by either the food, the service or the atmosphere. It is so nice to have a reliable restaurant to return to over the years.

Visited with the taste of the previous generation... what a sad difference. Even the ambience changed. Taste still good, but what nostalgia.

Pizza ottima e il resto delle specialità romane!I really enjoyed the pizza and the fried artichokes! On the second photo ( from left) a simple salad with Porcini mushrooms, rocket salad and parmesan cheese.

Staying in Aventine

Neighbourhood Profile
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighbourhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
