We stopped in Tivoli to see the Villa Asti ( well worth a visit) and I was sent on a scouting mission to find somewhere good to eat. Not a very nice area but I found Da Totarello by chance. Lucky find. Atmosphere was pleasant, service good, food, unfussy but very good. We were the only non Italians eating (... More

I was taken there by an Italian colleague otherwise I would never found it and I had found it I´m not sure I would have entered. Its position is really strange and the surroundings don´t invite you too much, from outside it looks also very spartan. But entering you arrive in a completele different world. It´s a nice restaurant which,... More

Maybe there is something better locally or maybe this is the true local cuisine, but after our trip in Umbria and Tuscany the dishes don't seems to leave you with a @i wish to eat here again" feeling. I'm not sure this is entirely due to the Roman style. Quality, don't get me wrong, is on the good side. It's... More

Decent local food with very nice dining area in a garden, weather permitting. A bit perhaps on the heavy-side of cooking, but this is after all roman cuisine, not famous for being lean. Some varieties, recommended "straccetti" as main and fried parmesan (i told you it's an heavy cooking!) as starter.

We stumbled upon this restaurant in point of fact we did not like the surroundings, sat in the midst of a roundabout. We were just about to walk away when the owner invited us in just to have a look. Well we were glad we did the seating area was outside but to the rear and was lovely, with vines... More

We have lived in Rome for going on 3 years and are used to paying over the odds for mediocre food and pushy service (note other's reviews for Ristorante Ulpia next to Mercati di Traiano which we unfortunately tried last week!); so what a surprise to find such a lovely restaurant for lunch! It is ideal if you are driving... More

Picture yourself in uneventful neighborhood of rome's outskirt of town, with nothing around you other then small businesses, houses and supermarkets! Totarello could be one of the many truck driver's joints located at every mile of the consulars' roads... And probably is! Yet, when you walk in there you are about to go for the real thing: the home made... More
