Very friendly staff, great food. They allowed us to share each course which was good because the whole four courses is a lot! Fantastic risotto with truffles and steak - and one of the best Italian wines I've every had.

I am not very lucky with recommendations but this restaurant really something. Before travelling to Bologna I was reading one of the travel guides where the author mentioned that "If you wanna buy the best pasta go...". As I wanted to have my place secured I wrote an email and within an hour I received very polite reply saying that... More

This smallish restaurant seems to be very popular with tourists. We did not book and walked up a bit early...so glad we did. It was full within 10 minuets and the during our short time there, an hour or so, the proprietor had to turn away at least as many enquiries for a table as there are tables in the... More

We have eaten here 2 nights running and going back for our third and final night in Bologna. When in Rome, as they say....well the fact that it was packed with local Bolognese people last night...we only just got a table (and booked for tonight) tells you all you need to know. Food is very typical of this area (which... More

This is a wonderful, small place that is away from the center of town. We were greeted like old friends, and we enjoyed our meal here very much. Be sure to reserve. The phone was ringing all night with people trying to get in and they were full.

We liked this place when we visited Bologna in late December, but no more. We arrived at 7.30 pm, as arranged and were seated promptly. Looked at the menu. Ordered. Within less than five minutes, our starters were on the table. The vegetable tart was over hot and the cheese and cream sauce glutinous - microwaved! My husband's goat's cheese... More

The best thing I must have done on my very first trip to Bologna was pre-book at 18.00 reservation at Al Sangiovese. As of 19.00 on that Friday evening it was filling up, everybody without a booking was sadly turned away. Of course we were sweetly greeted, the staff are very well spoken in English, and my partner and I... More

Didn't rate this place at all. Food was disappointing, not very well cooked (especially the swordfish) and not very well presented.

My daughter and I arrived on Thursday evening and were disappointed not to get a table as the restaurant was fully booked for the whole weekend. Seeing our disappointment, our lovely hosts managed to squeeze us a table for Friday evening and everything was absolutely perfect. The bolognese certainly do feed you well and it was the most delicious food... More

Had beautiful meal here, vegetable pie was excellent, great homemade tortellini, and the panacotta delicious, especially with the cherries, service was excellent and Wednesday night in the side streets of Bologna it tells a story as it was fully booked
