This is a place the locals go to in order to get good cheap local food in a convivial setting. It has a small menu that is chosen each day. I had spaghetti with scampi followed by Ligurain rabbit. The latter was one of the best rabbit dishes I have had. On a chilly night in February without many tourists... More

Excellent speciality food in a family run restaurant in the heart of Genova - small menu different every day offer typical dishes that have the genuine taste of food as it should be - dine there for two evening in a row in September - will definitely recommend to everyone that looks for a small cosy restaurant that serves Genovese... Simple, typical, food in heart of the vicoli. First time I took kids for the best pasta al pesto. The second time I went with my husband and again had typical genovese dishes. It is honest, carefully made but simply genuine. The little tables are a treat as they sit in a lovely little square away from the crowds. It's... More

The menu is short and seasonal. The ingredients are often home-grown, and so is the smile of the staff. The desserts are stupendous.

Best pesto in Genoa according to the was street journal, you can see the article on a wall. Choose, eat, share but leave room for deserts... I had wonderful lemon custard with strawberries swimming in it. The women there wil tell you about the place. They are great!

We wanted to try the typical Genova's pesto, ending up in this restaurant because of the article of the Wall Street Journal. There was a line outside, but we thought the wait would be worth it. We were wrong. Or actually, it already went wrong by standing in line. A group and a couple were in front of us and... More

This restaurant came highly recommended by the people where we stayed. They do not take reservations and the place is small. A menu each day as they only serve what they find at the market which is a plus, today was perhaps not a good day at the market. We both had ravioli and they were good but nothing really... More

We ate at il mangiabuono on a Friday night. The reasturant is very simple and the food is fresh. We had home made gnocchetti al pesto and tomaxelle which is typical from the Genoa area. No card accepted only cash but prices are fair and NO COPERTO!

Wandering the streets of old town Genoa after the restaurant we were planning to visit turned out to be closed, we asked a local where we should eat and she told us in no uncertain terms to go to Mangiabuono. She even led us there and translated the menu for us. Ah Genoa. The people are so warm. We were... More

A simple, traditional Genoese restaurant, to try the classics of the local cuisine. Very good (my only complaint is that food was a little too salty). A full dinner (first and second course, dessert) for 25 euros, plus the cost of wine (16 euros for a good bottle). Recommended. You may be asked to share your table with other customers.
