good location but not as visible as the others in the area. inside the restaurant is spacious and carefully decorated. both food and wine is great, although the portions could be more abundant. the manager was on shift when i was there (i think he is everyday) and he made an effort in making us comfortable. the waiters are very... This is good Italian food. We did not have a reservation on a Saturday night but we were welcomed in and a table organised for us. The owner knows his meat and has a varied menu with a hot grill ready to go. They had a limited wine list but we went on the suggestion of the waitress and the... More

They squeezed us in on a busy Saturday night. Starters were OK, main was good and pudding was excellent!! Good Italian cooking. Meat cooked on the grill. Tasty food and nice atmosphere.

40 years have passed and they are always among the best. I returned after many years and nothing has changed. A thing is sure: the entrance doesn't represent the restaurant ! Last week I went there twice for dinner, with friends and family and every time I was delighted. The food and wines are outstanding and the prices very fair.... More

If you are looking for a high quality cut of steak with all the sides, check this spot out. The meat is cleaved in front of you. We split the Fiorentia. It was great, Tasty and if anything too big. Get the spinach and frites which don't appear on the menu. If you don't want a great slab of steak,... More

If you want to eat well you should go to other places. I had ordered a beef and specifically mentioned to be well done, but it was un unpleasant surprise - the beef was mediu-rare or even rare. It was not very bad however it was not on my taste. Spagetti bolognese was ok. Overall poor experience.

You visit La Carbonella only for the food, which is outstanding. Service is ok, atmosphere is zero. The Fiorentina is perfect.

I have been visiting this unique restaurant in the heart of donw town Milano for over 20 years. It is consistently excellent, serving the finest cuts of beef, grilled over charcoal in the traditional way "Bistecca alla Fiorentina". Start your meal with a selection of antipasti from the buffet selection, or a simple salad to leave room for the beef.... More

Description
It goes without saying that the best things remain. They don't need to change. Osteria La Carbonella has been situated in the historic heart of Milan, just a stone's throw from the Basilica of S. Ambrogio, since 1978. Try to imagine the most extraordinary meat in the city, so succulent and soft as to deserve over 30 years of passionate enthusiasm from its customers. It's be a true delight when you taste the exceptional, extra fresh ingredients, selected with care and attention. The pasta, risottos, cheese, cured meats, and the wines. And then the amazing homemade desserts. Imagine Santo Giazzi, the owner, something of an artist, a man with a passion for life, and the world. The first to have the idea for a simple and elegant grill in the centre of the dining hall. Try to imagine. And then come along to see for yourselves.

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
