We wanted to enjoy some good time and food with foreign colleagues and we followed the suggestion to go to this restaurant. It was my first time there and the experience was excellent. Warm welcoming and service, beautiful furnitures in marine style and not so many tables, so a booking in advance (at least one week before) is strongly suggested.... More

I go to il porto with friends or colleagues maybe once a month. The owner and the team are amazing for kindness and service, fish is great (try tagliolini with sea urchins). A great place

There are some many reasons why this restaurant has been there for 50 years! It is always full even though it is not cheap! The moment you enter the restaurant, you feel the warm welcome from all members of the staff including the owner. Everything is served in a professional manner. The selection and the quality of the seafood here... More

I had a difficult time finding good seafood in the Navigli area... I was about to give up and go for Japanese food but then I came across Al Porto. I was pleasantly surprised. The seafood was fresh and the pasta dishes were amazing. I ended up going back again the next day. I would actually consider the food here... More

Book the day before but this has to be one of the top fish restaurants in Europe. I have been there several time, always coming out enchanted. Our last visit featured (in small doses....) their fritto misto (small shrimps, fish lightly fried) so delicate that even a drop of lemon would have spoiled it: it must be enjoyed as it... More

My husband and I dined at this restaurant after researching good restaurants near us in Milan. We were not disappointed. We were only in Milan one night, so did not have a reservation. As the restaurant was quite busy we sat by the fresh fish bar but it was still a great seat. We were well looked after by the... More

Staying in Navigli

Neighbourhood Profile
The Navigli is part of historic Milan. In the ancient days, the entire city was linked with canals, similar to Venice. Today, most of the canals are gone, but the Navigli remains a canal-based neighborhood. There are two major canals: Naviglio Pavese and Naviglio Grande. The Naviglio Grande's bridges greet visitors at dusk with an amazing view. The Navigli district specializes in clubs, cafes, and vintage shops. Lifestyle reigns supreme here. You can start the walk from the Colonne di San Lorenzo, an antique colonnade in front of the Basilica di San Lorenzo. During the daytime, this place acts as a meeting point for artists and students reading books or chatting with friends; the nights turn it into a stepping-stone for club hoppers. Science lovers will also relish the opportunity to visit the Science and Technology National Museum Leonardo Da Vinci, showcasing inventions of the Italian genius.
