This is a small homey restaurant full of locals on the Navigci canal (a district well worth the visit for its markets, music, restaurants, bars and arty feel). The menu was regional and contained imaginative authentic dishes. But above all the level of cooking was perfect. I have rarely tasted a whole meal so well prepared and cooked. I really... More

We visited Milan this Christmas and ate at La Vigne because it was recommended by our AirB&B hostess. We were staying along the canal in the Ticinese area, so it was a short walk. There are two small dining rooms. All four of us had pasta - everything from a simple pasta pomadoro to a pasta with venison. All of... More

It is a traditional restaurant, with typical meals from Milano. It is on Naviglio, great place to have dinner! We took a spaghetti alla vongole and a milanese cotoletta. Both were very good, quantity is sufficient! Service is nice, they don t speak well english but that means they are perfect italians? :)

8 girls ordered 5 different dishes. Some of them unfortunately besides being cold, inedible. It was disappointing from all aspects: tasteless food, unfriendly service and it seemed that the owner had a few too many drinks on top of it all. The wine we had was good. Not recommended!

I believe that the true best meals in life are the ones not in 5 star restaurants (where you expect greatness... which comes with a bit of pretentiousness), but in down-home joints where the diners are everyday people enjoying great food, at reasonable prices. I almost cried at the delicious simplicity of my burrata and artichoke appetizer, and again when... More

the Osteria Le Vigne is pretty much the most local place you may find in this tourism driven surrounding. several primi and secondi for lunch, all good and cheap. a nice place to come back to.

Stumbled on this place at 2pm in the afternoon on a Saturday we were probably the last lunchtime customers but we weren't rushed and the service and food was excellent. Unlike some of the touristy restaurants you find this was good honest home cooked proper food. Would recommend to anyone travelling to Milan.

Traditional restaurant around the middle of the Naviglio grande. Excellent cheese selection, very good dishes (even if the pasta entrees are a bit on the small side). Wine was also good and reasonably priced (we had a very good Nero d'Avola) Probably one of the best choices in the area. It's not as fashionable as other places, but the food... More

Staying in Navigli

Neighbourhood Profile
Navigli
The Navigli is part of historic Milan. In the ancient days, the entire city was linked with canals, similar to Venice. Today, most of the canals are gone, but the Navigli remains a canal-based neighborhood. There are two major canals: Naviglio Pavese and Naviglio Grande. The Naviglio Grande's bridges greet visitors at dusk with an amazing view. The Navigli district specializes in clubs, cafes, and vintage shops. Lifestyle reigns supreme here. You can start the walk from the Colonne di San Lorenzo, an antique colonnade in front of the Basilica di San Lorenzo. During the daytime, this place acts as a meeting point for artists and students reading books or chatting with friends; the nights turn it into a stepping-stone for club hoppers. Science lovers will also relish the opportunity to visit the Science and Technology National Museum Leonardo Da Vinci, showcasing inventions of the Italian genius.
