For a welcome break from the hectic tourist bustle of Venice take the vaporetto to Guidecca and enjoy a delicious lunch in this tiny restaurant. Food is fresh, it feels like a family run establishment and it was full of locals when we visited. Highly recommend a trip to this lagoon island and a stop at La Palaca. You won't... More

Fresh fish, specials of the day. We had tuna tartare and a sea bass pasta. Very tasty. Expect a cafe style atmosphere. Plenty of locals eating here too, makes for a nice atmosphere.

Brilliiant place for a cheap breakfast before jumping on a vaporetto [just opposite the Palanca stop]. Full of locals, which is a recommendation in itself, and the staff were cheerful and friendly [happy to indulge our piecemeal Italian]

I have visited La Palanca several times in the last few years and it remains an excellent lunch stop. Note that it is lunch only, they do not open in the evenings. This is not a touristy place and is well used by the local people, in fact on this visit I think we were the only tourists in. It... More

Had lunch here as it was highly recommended. The seafood appetizer which had warm shrimp, and cold fish (sardines, raw swordfish slices and bacala) was very good. The monkfish with artichokes was ok. The pinot grigio was very good.

We were so disappointed on our first day when we visited as it was about 4 pm and they only served drinks. So we learnt that they are closed on Sundays and serve only breakfast and lunch. Make a booking because they can be crowded. And their clientele? Lots of locals and tourists like us. Looking for good food at... More

On an Island just opposite Venice is a small but friendly place to eat with great views of Venice while eating. Food was fresh and plentiful and a reasonable price. Friendly staff made this a nice place for lunch and to rest your feet for an hour.

We popped in here for some drinks before or dinner at a local restaurant, cheap as chips and very friendly staff. We sat outside and was bought our drinks with a selection of bubbles. Not rushed by the staff and would be more than happy to visit again.

Staying in Giudecca

Neighbourhood Profile
Giudecca is a retreat for Venetians away from the crowds. Symbolically, six metal teeth represent Venice’s six sestieri (districts); the seventh, Guidecca, points away from the others – part of Dorsoduro, but separated by the Giudecca Canal. Giudecca evolved from a center of shipyards and factories to a quiet residential area with a sprinkling of restaurants and bars. The majestic harmonious Redentore church stands as thanks for delivering Venice from the plague, hosting an annual heartfelt festival.
