It was good, but I wouldn't calll it a € place.... We came in during the late afternoon, most of the prices weren't written out in front of the pasrties... Actually what we have bought was delicious.

I have been dreaming about this place since I last left Venice and going back again in September and can’t wait to get up and walk over to Bar Pasicceria Ballarin to order an espresso and a hot raspberry croissant.

After trying frittelli as a 'second dessert' at Vecia Cavana the night before, we were determined to sample a few more while wandering through the alleys of Venice. We came upon this place by chance (just looking for the first place we could get some), and found all varieties here to be fantastic. Friendly service, a great selection of pastries... More

We happened by this Pasticceria and just had to go in as the smell coming out was wonderful. We purchased several small but very tasty items. The presentation is nothing less than authentic Italian and we're glad we stopped by

We happen to stumble across this place when we were walking around. What caught our attention was the window display. Once we stepped inside we did not know what to order. The man behind the counter was very helpful. This was the first time we tried Canolo. Highly recommend this place.

If you like desserts, you have to try the croccante here, as delicious as they look from the outside. I tried the croccante di mandorla, mmmmmmmmmmm.....yammie. You can also use it as a coffee stop

Recommended to go here from a waitress at a restaurant the night before. The cakes and pastries are amazing. We had coffee and tea with cakes and stood and ate them with the locals for our breakfast. It was fairly busy with a steady stream of people. The price was very good so I'm sure we'll be back again for breakfast... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
