I visited the cafe according to trip advisor comments. Really liked the coffee, croissants (especially marmalade), and the ambiance. Staff is also very very friendly and helpful. If i visit Venice again, this will be the first place i stop by! By the way, prices are good too.

Caffe Del Doge is "fast food done right". Fresh food made out of what seemed to be fresh ingredients, in a nice environment. Also, it's quite close to the San Marco plaza so you can make a "pit stop" between Venice walks. The prices are of course higher than the usual "street pizza", but it's well worth the difference.

The place was nice for talking meanwhile drinking a coffee. We had a perfect cafe latte and cappucino.

The service was very good, we went here every morning for our coffee. I alway ordered macchiato it was excellent. The pasties always fresh and light and delicious. Easy to find. Great gifts too.

Down a quiet road near the Rialto Bridge, seek this one out it is a very modern cafe that focussed on great coffee and cakes. Really happy to have found it, great prices. Don't forget in Venice if you stand and have a coffee at the service bar then the price is a Euro or 2 for a coffee, if... More

Visited a couple of times, it can get quite busy. You can buy coffee beans from all over the world, have a drink while you rest from walking around Venice and have snacks and cakes. The cafe is located on a quiet side street so couldn't do much people watching (which is what I like to do while I drink... More

It is not so Easy to pick up a good Caffe in Venice. But this is an exception. Very nice selection of tropical coffee varieties. My fav was Brazilian and Ethiopian. The best Pisa for a tasty morning in Venice. There is also a good selection of coffee making accessories available. And they sell capsules for Nespresso ;)

Of all the places we visited while in Venice this place is one of our fondest memories of the trip. It was how we started each morning. A 20 minute walk across the island from Carnaregio. The coffee was amazing, the Crema croissant was phenomenal, and the service was first class! Thank you Cafe Del Doge for making our trip... More

We had tried this brand in a coffee shop in our hometown (athens) and were excited to visit the "real thing" . Coffee is amazing- try to taste as many varieties possible! The caffe, loved by the locals, is in nice little alley just off the main street. It a typical Italian coffee shop with minimum decor but the coffee itself... More

Visited here twice, best coffee we had by far. Really friendly staff, we can't wait to come back next time we're in Venice.

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
