This place is let down by its service and waiters and waitresses that are rushed off their feet and seem to not want to be there. The pasta and pizza we had was good, the olive oil and wine simple and just what we wanted. The rudeness and abruptness of the service really spoiled the experience.

Vino Vino shares the kitchen with a much more expensive restaurant, but the menu is less varied, with different ingredients. The restaurant is lovely- beautiful paintings (1920's), beautiful light fixtures, dim lights (candles, too - romantic). The waiters were attentive, and the food was very good. I would have liked garlic on my shrimp, but perhaps they hold back on... More

This is a quiet restaurant tucked away to the side of the theatre. It's fine. They must pay the concierges to recommend it because that seems to be why most people go there. Like most restaurants in San Marco it's expensive - €17 for a pasta dish which is of starter size. The sauce was suspiciously identical to Dolmio sauce.... More

While in Venice, we discovered this delightful restaurant. The decor is lovely and subdued. As vegetarians, we had many options, so many that we ended up coming second time. Most of the evening, the restaurant was about 75% full in our section, but the wait staff and kitchen had no problem keeping up with the guests. I might add that... More

We were searching for a place for lunch near the Finice so we were in the heavily touristed part of Venice. Generally avoid eating there. But we were tired and hungry and saw the sign. We had a very good time! Super nice server. Really ornately decorated place. Lots of lamps, red, brocade kind of like a bordello look. Food... More

This is an average restaurant in a city where great restaurants are hard to find. The ambiance is nice. I read many complaints about service in other reviews, but our server was good. The food was not very memorable. In fact, I don't really remember what we had.

This restaurant has great decoration and an interesting-looking menu, and often someone outside doing his best to entice you in. My experience, however, was disappointing. During our order the waiter flatly refused to let us have tap water, because he could not make money on it. His attitude from then on was impatient and churlish, which spoiled the meal for me.... Food was excellent, service was normal for Italy (slower, relaxed), but the waiter we had was unfriendly compared to our experience throughout the rest of our stay

I had a pizza in this restaurant during my last trip to Venice. It was very good. The restaurant is beautiful and really elegant as the city. I recommend it for a romantic dinner or lunch. It is expensive.

My husband and I were recommended this restaurant by the reception staff at our hotel. What a great find. Lovely affordable food close to piazza San Marco. Service was great with waiters and waitress who served us very friendly. Would certainly recommend to friends.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
