We chose this restaurant whilst wondering around and were lured in with its extensive menu and pleasant front of house waiter. They were very busy but our waiter helped move a couple of tables to allow us to sit where we had chosen. Our waiter was talkative and flamboyant and we thought we were in for a great night. The... It was early evening and the restaurant was not full, our order was taken and although the spritz was not on the menu they obligingly made one for me. Bread and very thin balsamic was brought to the table and this was ok. The meal however, was a different matter. My husband ordered the aubergine casserole, from the main course... More

Poor service or bad food can be forgiven, but aggressive and rude service can not. The service we had from the beginning was slow, incompetent and dismissive. We had to order items several times, were approached by several different waiters who hadn't communicated with each other, and the final bill was more than we had ordered. To make matters worse,... This restaurant is beyond terrible - we have never had such an awful dining experience. Our table was ignored, left waiting and forgotten about. Items we ordered did not arrive but were on the bill. The restaurant was crawling with small black inspects. The wall next to our table was covered in them, as were our chairs, and they flew... More

My first terrible review! Not the review itself of course, but the restaurant that I am writing about. We spent the weekend in Venice and after attending a splendid performance of Carmen at La Fenice, we stopped in for a bite. We entered through a narrow doorway with a simple sign from Campo di Stefano, and realized that's the back... More

Service is very slow. The main reason for tthe 1 star is as we were eating, a couple walked in with a dog in her arms and was sat at the table next to us! Dogs allowed in a restaurant, unacceptable unless service animal. We asked her if it was a service dog and she said no , the owner... More

We were looking for a quick simple meal before our flight to the UK at 11pm. Got lured in, and it was truly awful- starter OK but simple, I would be embarrassed if I had cooked the pasta dishes served. The final straw came when they bought the mixed salad at the end of the meal and described it as... More

My partner and I stopped by to have drinks last night before heading back to our hotel and decided to book in for dinner the following night (Saturday, 8th of April). I'm so glad we did because it was the best meal of our 4 night stay in Venice. We had oysters and the trio of bruchetta to start, I... More

Walking by and persuaded to come in by the wolf man of Campo Santo Stefano. Couldn't fault the friendly service, food was very good and good value and the wines lovely. Couldn't fault it for the price.

Thought it was overpriced for the food and service we had. Menu outside was slightly different to menu shown, service ok although had a few different waiters serving us. Italians in our family cook lovely food and I expected better at this place but was disappointed. For the price, I would go elsewhere.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
