We stumbled across this restaurant during Carnivale. The fact that locals were there was a plus. It was clean, and quiet with great service and lovely food. The bruchetta was presented as if a work of art and the gnocci with gorganzola and walnuts was sublime. Easy to get to and worth the effort. Service was attentive and pleasant. Reasonably... More

Set in a great location by the waters edge with great views well away from the Chaos and main crowds. We ate outside several times on our honeymoon. Staff are friendly and speak excellent English. We're vegetarians and I searched Venice for the best Spaghetti Pomodoro and this was the best I tasted anywhere. Other nice things were when I... More

Excellent sea bass, and pasta with pesto, good service and well priced. Can't go wrong. Had set out for Trattoria de la Misercordia, but too criwded. Am glad we landed here. Service was attentive and we were offered a complementary limoncello.

I knew this place was bad from other reviews on google. Venice is amazing. This place sucks. We wanted a nice light meal for an early dinner and upon ordering the guy asked "do you want water?" We replied no. He then said "wine?" We said no. He then said "not possible" and stormed off. You want to spend €6... More

We ate here on a Saturday for dinner, decent options on the menu and the food we ate was OK, however the disappointing aspect was the fact that the service gave us the impression that they would have preferred us not to have been there! The restaurant is based on a great street though!

We had lunch here today, very good food & great prices. Two starters to share & 4 main courses, bread & drinks- 64 euros. Very busy with local people, a good sign. Recommended.

I rated it excellent for the value received. It was our first restaurant to dine in when we arrived in Venice. It was a beautiful night and a man talked to us "Buena Cera", like we know what that meant. Given the gesture, we figured soliciting our dining patronage and we acquiesced. At 30 euro we had spaghetti borganese and... More

After strolling around the Canaregio area of Venice, stopping off for a spritz en route, we spent an inordinate amount of time looking for a suitable restaurant - so many to choose. We settled for Diana, a waterside establishment, with a moderately priced menu. The food was ok, bruschetta (bread quite dry) and a seafood pasta. The pasta actually was... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
