Nice hotel, rooms not bad, location excellent, 5 minute walk to water bus straight to marco, lots of lovely bars, places to eat, shops, churches, away from the hustle but close enough to get to those tourist attractions, staff very helpful indeed, breakfast is typical continental, no bar in hotel but next door bar will let you take drinks to... Lovely hotel with a homely feel. I had a lovely room with exposed beams which felt warm and cozy. The reception staff will help will restaurant choices in the area, but you need to book as they get really busy. Lovely sea food restaurant close to the hotel with ties hanging all over the ceiling. Overall a faultless stay.

We stayed there for my birthday right before we took a cruise on the Mediterranean sea, it was perfect!! Location is easy to get to from the ATVO bus station. The breakfast was amazing, huge selection, the interior court yard was my favourite place!

This hotel is extremely comfortable and very reasonably priced. It is in an ideal location close to the Piazzale Roma, near the railway station and where the bus arrives from the airport. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious. Breakfast is good and there are plenty of good restaurants in the neighbourhood.

This is a good basic old fashioned hotel where extra long sheets are changed everyday. There is a pleasant breakfast area with scrumptious croissants and hot chocolate. Nice views over the canal. Would return there.

Please read my review in the hotel section. There is not a real restaurant only a breakfast room and garden.

Good position in a quiet area but surrounded by local bars and restaurants. Easy transport links to and from airport. Good vaporetti links to all major tourist sites. Pleasant rooms and a nice garden to have breakfast in if the weather is OK.

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
