If you are going to Venice and want to have a meal to remember, do not miss La Colomba. Every time we come to Venice this restaurant is first on our list. During our last visit, Salvatore was our server. He made sure that our every need was met and that our meal was perfectly prepared. We had the truffle... More

The matre'd was charming and the wait staff attentive! They offered me samples of some of the foods I expressed curiosity about; and the wine recommendation was perfect with the seafood. Expensive but GOOD.

These people give Venice a bad name - absolutely ripped off by the extortionate prices they charge for food, service and cover to sit at their tables. Cover charge of €16 with service of €8 before we even ordered any food. Most expensive place I have eaten in and poorest food quality. €80 for fries and a plate of ham.... More

This place is run by a bunch of crooked Indians. Their sole purpose is to rip you off. Extortionate hidden charges. We paid 80 euros for 1 portion of fries with small portion of ham and cheese & water. When questioned they tried to justify it. This place cannot continue to operate and rip off innocent Travellers. They give Venice... More

This restaurant charges a cover to eat on it's outdoor patio, has fair to mediocre food and outrageous prices for the quality of food you get. Plus the servers were untrained and slow. We had supper there May 14, 2016 and I was very unimpressed. The appetizer I ordered, Coquilles St. Jacques, cost 24 euro and had one very small... More

This place is very expensive and could be anywhere in the world, it makes few concessions to being in Venice. It's Italian/continental. Old-fashioned and very slow

The service was fantastic and the food was good. It was a cozy little restaurant with a friendly owner who loved what she did and was involved in making sure we were having a good time. The gnocchi were wonderful and the grilled calamari was cooked perfectly. The creme brulee was different than any I'd ever tasted. Overall a good,... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
