We arrived at 9.30ish and the restaurant closes at 11 but that didn't stop them trying to hurry us out by 10.15pm. I would presume that despite closing at 11pm they would still allow you to finish your food. Apparently not. We ordered our food which was fine and a litre of the house wine, which happens to be wonderful... More

In short, don't eat here. This meal was our first meal of our 10-day trip in Italy, and it was not good. Luckily our other meals at Impronta Cafe and Enoteca ai Artisti made up for it. We ate at Al Ponte del Megio because we couldn't eat at La Zucca. La Zucca was recommended by our hotel, but when... More

Good food, quite pricey (but you're in Venice) and at a very good location. Service is OK. House wine could be better.

Went here for lunch after a recommendation from a friend. Had heard excellent reports and so hopes were high. The result were horrendous, the staff are vacant and it took 15 minutes and three requests to get a menu. The food was okay but not worth the price. We ordered two pasta dishes, two beers and some water which came... More

The food we had was really good, and so was the atmosphere and setting outside by the canal. However it took over an hour for us to get our first course, then when they finally brought it mine was wrong. We had to cancel our main course for fear of how long that would take and that we might miss... More

This was the most disappointing restaurant on our trip to Venice. Staff is unprofessional (seems like only students are working there) and food was a way below average. As starter we ordered a pumpkin soup and crabs. Though we were two people dining and it should not be difficult to heat up a soup once the crabs are ready, the... More

We chose this place as it was fairly close by and recommended by our hotel. It was pretty quiet when we arrived (7pm) but soon filled up and its a good spot for watching a bit of canal and many passers by (several tables outside). The young waitresses were friendly and efficient and spoke good english. The food arrived in... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
