One of the best dinners we’ve ever had! Our group of 3 was on the hunt for an excellent Michelin- star dinner and absolutely loved Il Ridotto. We chose the Research 7-course menu and asked for wine pairings with each course. Had a 3-hour dinner...and enjoyed every aspect. Attentive, friendly service (not stuffy like some other similarly rated restaurants), outstandingly flavorful and inventive dishes, and incredible, very generous wine pairings. Don’t understand what other people are saying as this was worth every euro and I will definitely be recommending this to anyone going to Venice. Very high on my list of memorable meals I have enjoyed while traveling.More

Very disappointing. Unimaginative dishes, stale bread, lacking service, dull decor. Genuinely shocked this has a Michelin star.

We arrived for our anniversary at this restaurant after doing lots of research of restaurants in the area. This would be yet another favoured trip to a Michelin star restaurant as me and my partner enjoy doing where ever we are on the globe. We...arrived and stood in the entrance of the restaurant for a few moments, as waiters brushed past there was no greeting. Eventually an elder man who I believe to be the owner sort of looked at us and we instigated the conversation about the reservation. We were asked for our vaccine certificates which we had brought with us. Earlier this day we had been called by quite a rude woman who asked us bluntly to bring the certificates with us. Upon handing them over in the restaurant there was some issue with our vaccination certificate not scanning. Naturally this is not our fault as this certificate has worked in many other restaurants and countries visited, I assure anyone reading this review all was in order and we were vaccinated as required with required proof. As there was this issue with our barcode not scanning the attitude of the owner turned somewhat rude and to a point angry. He didn’t make eye contact with us, tutted and raised his hands in anger. After being made to feel extremely uncomfortable we were finally guided to our table with a hand gesture only. We sat there in total shock at how our entrance to a Michelin star restaurant (on our anniversary) had unfolded. As the food followed service was somewhat forced and arrogant. Wine pairing was not explained how it was paired with the dish and rather just poured into the glass and the label read out. The food was tasty and picture on a plate as is expected of any Michelin star restaurant. The added difficulty to this review is that the previous evening we had eaten at a restaurant called Wisteria which was not listed as a Michelin star and received significantly better service and food slightly better. As the evening unfolded the owner warmed to us and the service improved as did the explanations of courses and wine pairing. Sadly there was no mention of our anniversary and certainly no effort to make us feel special. Overall we had a nice evening but I am still confused as to how a Michelin star restaurant can get away with providing such poor service. Sadly we would not return which is very unlike us considering every other Michelin star restaurant we have visited we would return to.More

Had dinner this week at Il Ridotto. Very bad food: products not fresh and overcoocked. Service below expectations. Very bgi change vs. previous experience two years ago. Definitively does not justify anymore the michelin one star rating. Also over priced: 40€ a starter you would...expect fresh products which was nto the case.More

I went to this restaurant for my birthday and would have found it a joke had it not been so expensive. The five course ‘surprise’ fish menu came as purée of cat food, grey scollops on squirt, fish soup with pasta and no fish, an...old sardine on a carrot and a piece of leather between two grated acidic bits of cabbage, the pudding would have excited a five year old - ice cream and chocolate sauce and the petit fours were bread sicks with spice and jellied washing up liquid. The atmosphere was designer, the waiter lugubrious and the wine delicious but this was no compensation for one of the worst dinners I’ve ever paid for. We should have guessed by the first thing to arrive - yesterday’s bread. I don’t know what’s happened here, perhaps there’s a new chef?More

We booked because of the * and had not read the trip advisor reviews beforehand (unusually). We had the land and sea 5 course taster plus local wine pairing. All courses were really well prepared, nearly presented and tasty. Right volume of food and good...pace to the meal - a 2-2.5 hour trip rather than longer as can happen with more courses but all accompanied by some excellent local wines. It’s a relative comment but I think it was pretty good value at €100 for the food and €70 for the wine (5 glasses) although I appreciate not all will agree the point as of course you can grab a pizza or a bowl of pasta much cheaper but it’s an entirely different experience (both great). The service was attentive and not over bearing and the venue small and intimate and well located just off San Marco Square but sufficiently far away to feel more ‘real’ . I would definitely go again and that’s no lt something I would say about all venues we visited in Venice!More

Nice food but just that. We took the lunch menu with 2 glasses of wine, we paid 110 euro and then went for pizza. Well cooked but nothing special in flavor. Just something I could eat at home or any other cheap place.

Disappointing. As many of our friends have lost their sense of taste through Covid, we decided to make the most of ours and only choose top restaurants. This did not qualify as “Top”. Wine was chosen by sommelier and served without asking us to taste,...poor quality, poor service. Food lacked flavour, turbot (main course) was cold, bean purée tasteless. Spaghetti nera was too sweet. Starters were OK, polpo fine, prawns and leeks also. But overall definitely not worthy of a Michelin star.More

Food is alright. Not at all as creative as expected. It’s technically alright but flavours are boring. Combined to a weird service this doesn’t achieve the marks that it should be in the Michelin guide.

We have been there different times and we allways enjoyed it, but it was different this year. Never choose a table outside (was my mistake) you sit inbetween the crowd. Service wasn`t attentive like we remember. In former times they served exellent homemade fresh bread,...now you get bread baked again, which is absolute inacceptable. This time we choose the large menue and we missed appropriate servig size without a lot of bread we would be still hungry after dinner. Price Value is not adequate any more We are sorry but we have to look for an other place for fine dinning in Venice.More

:-) when I was there, the attitude wasn't snob at all :-) rather very friendly, attentive and warm, but anyway. No dress code. Some people dress up - mainly tourists though. Casual chic would be perfectly adequate.

I believe you can book 7nights a week but you will need to call them direct - I am just a member of the public who enjoyed a meal sufficiently to say so on TripAdvisor. Hope they can take you and that you have a good evening.
