All personnel was very nice, service almost impeccable. Shame for the food. Tasteless pasta with pumpkin and cuttlefish and improbable and tasteless tuna burger with mushrooms. Really, everything was so bland and insipid. The best part were the short grissini

Whilst our yearly visit to the city e always make our way here for a great lunch. Situated at the side of the Grande Canale and also Campo San Giacomo di Rialto, Banco Girco is in the proud position of being in the middle under these incredibly old arches. . This is where the first banks in the world began.... More

We visited Bancogiro following our hotel owners recommendation. We had had a couple of average meals and were looking for a sure thing for our last meal. The restaurant itself is set in the fish market area very close to the Rialto bridge. Downstairs a typical Venetian bar, upstairs a small but beautiful little restaurant. The waiters are very helpful... More

We arrived there after a long walk. By the window, we could see the fresh food... You have the choice either to go for a quick lunch with a drink at the bar or to take a table and enjoy the menu upstairs. The menu is original, plates are well decorated and full. A good selection of wines. We enjoyed... More

Typical osteria for Stand up food & wine experience in the Rialto fish market. Excellent tapas for a good price, Italian informal service and good wines at good prices. The gamberetti with curry and the lardo (the fat in the prosciutto) crostini are one of the best tapas in the world. A must in Venice to understand the food culture... More

Stopped in to have a drink since we saw a large group of people. Lovely interior. Perfect location for a glass of wine. Disappointed with the unfriendly staff...

After several years little has changed. The same very high level of service, imagination in food combination, very different and very tasty food and fantastic atmosphere. Thank you and good luck!

I live quite close to Venice but it was my first time in this place! Great and lively atmosphere, packed with people (local and not). The quality of the "cicchetti" was good and yummy ....but quite overpriced.... I'm sure you can get "cicchetti" in Venice for a better price! Its worth a try if you are not starving.... Great wine... Went with my wife roaming for some cicchetti and was a bit down as almost all were non veg (great for me but not my wife). Came along here and the meat cicchetti were good but the one we reordered until they had no more left-simple cheese with truffle oil. The most amazing simple yet complex taste that satisfied and... Ordered the veal cheek w/ polenta and artichoke (very bland) as well as the fusilli w/ lamb ragu (pretty good). Service was a bit slow but we went on a fri night so that's understandable. All in all, just average. Food + water + glass of wine = €56

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
