We had here the dinner, but the overall impression wasn't that good. We had the daily menu, which consists of two dishes: some pasta and some meat (either chicken, pork or fish). The portions were small and the quality of the food was poor. They said that "coperto" was included in the price when we've asked at the beginning, but... More

The service was efficient but not very friendly, the waiter/owner took our order and served our drinks I don't think he said more than 2 words, he sat behind the bar drinking coffee on his phone and popping outside for a few puffs. The food was OK and the portion sizes were good and the price reasonable especially for Venice,... More

The food is excellent and the personnel funny. The prices are in the standard range and the food is very good. Be careful when ordering as even starters are huge. Also if ordering a big beer you can expect one litter... All in all bring a lot of time with you as you will need a lot of time to... More

We were looking at the menu at the street and the waiter asked us to join in a fun way. We ate the specialty of the day, which was a seafood spaghetti and a smoked bass which were very very good.

Quaint, nice atmosphere. Very cozy, warm feeling. Food was tasty with abundant portions, priced appropriately. Good selection on the menu. Personnel was attentive but not very personable.

We accidentally stumbled across this gem filled with italian diners. You must try the white wine (Italo cescon chardonnay) with the spaghetti frutti di mare and the polipi veneto. Even the bread rolls were delicious. Highly recommend.

Food: bland Service: inattentive Cost: expensive Conclusion: avoid In a city with innumerable restaurants this is the worst place we we're unlucky enough to be lured into. Looks great but nothing else to recommend. Go somewhere else.

We ate at Ostaria al Garanghelo in Venice twice - once for lunch, the second time we returned for dinner. Each time, it was empty - even though lots of other nearby restaurants were pretty full at the same time. It was surprising, because the place is welcoming and the food was quite good - in fact, better than some... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
