Nice dinner with freshly sliced cured ham, polenta with 4 kinds of cod, some grilled vegetables and a nice bottle of wine. The menu of the restaurant is small, the dishes we picked were very good and good value for money. Attention: The restaurant does not accept credit cards, cash only

This osteria in Campo Santa Margherita offers an authentic Venetian experience. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, local dishes and regional wine. All at reasonable prices. There is outside seating if you want to watch the action in the Campo. It can get busy, so maybe best to book (if possible).

Lovely restaurant recommended by our air bnb host. Good wine and really reasonably priced meat platters in a lively area.

We went to this place on recommendation from our Airbnb host. As soon as we walked in, we were seated at a table for four but were made to sit in a fashion that another couple could sit on same table with us. I didn't like that part. The person who seated us was quite matter of fact about it... More

Visited on the recommendation of a local we spoke to in a wine store. Set on a very pretty square we visited on an evening. They had a huge range of drinks and a fantastic menu (one of us is veggie and we had no trouble). We ordered drinks including orange juice that was freshly squeezed rather than bottled and... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
