Sadly we only found this place on our last night in Venice otherwise we would have gone there again. Excellent local cuisine, good prices and very friendly helpful staff. Definitely the best food we had in Venice

10 for the Stuff! They were so polite and they explained what is everything from the Menu, they were not in a hurry(like other places in Venice). 8 for food (except 10 for risotto with seafood).

We had to seek this out, because it was recommended in our 20 year old DK guide to Venice. It is still one of the best "sea food" restraunts in our opinion. I had Fish Soup and then Fried Mixed Fish. The soup was wonderfully chunky white fish of all kinds in rich stock. The fry was quite different, all... More

After having a terrible experience the previous evening with a highly rated restaurant Bancagiro , we opted for this off the main waterfront restaurant. Great food , the black squid Spagetti , mussels , baby calamari grill were as good as it can get . Friendly service , accommodating without being over bearing . The waiter Alessandro & Klejdi were... It would not be a trip to Venice without a night or 2 in here. No foams, writing on plates, nitrogen frozen food, instead delicious, mouth watering, great Italian food - gnocchi with meat ragu that just melts in the mouth, scampi wrapped in the lightest batter and even just side plate full of veg cooked to perfection, free offerings... Traditional set up and excellent service. Cuisine is also traditional and well executed. Spider crab appetizer a must in season. Good value, for Venice.

The place is nicely located in a small mew. Unfortunately food was not excellent, the risotto was poorly cooked. I recommend the raw seafood (scampi). Unfortunately, when paying, a service charge was added (on top of the coperto), it turned out to be compulsory while it should be discretionary

Charming old-world setting. The friendly waiters, the simplicity, the no-nonsense traditional style is enchanting. Yet the food is too basic, way too boring, far behind today's gastronomic expectations. Truly sad as we hoped to be taken back to an Italian cuisine of those forgotten days that the decor and ambiance suggest.

A typical Italian trattoria in a small alley by the Grand Canal near the Rialto bridge. Excellent food, specially seafood, very amicable service. I would go back there any time.

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
