Unfortunately our experience can only be described as dire. To take the most beautiful piece of Turbot and then cover it with a foul tasting mud sauce is not a recipe for success. despite the friendly service, I find recommending this restaurant impossible. Truly and utterly inedible. Writing a review such as this is not something that comes easily because... More

Looking for a restaurant after a concert in Venice, and just stumbled upon this place - a happy accident! It's a tiny place, 5-6 tables only, but oh boy was our meal terrific! started with a platter of local cheeses, I've forgotten the names of a couple, but they were all great. Everyone in our party ordered the branzino (sea... More

Small, friendly and good food. This special place is worth going looking for. The food was wonderful and I am sure we met every one of the staff throughout the evening. There was a slight language barrier at times but their English was 100x better than my Italian so no complaints.

Lovely little restaurant that feels a bit more authentic than the usual tourist restaurants (no pictures on the menu!). Paired with the wine bar opposite called 5000 its a hidden tucked away gem, serving authentic italian food and some extra specials (the Indian chef means there's a few Asian twists on the menu). Lovely romantic decor with exposed bricks, candles... More

Venice is an expensive place to eat out (other than pizza) and there are many restaurants that charge a high price and don't deliver the goods. This place was recommended by our concierge, we liked it so much we went back the following night. Very surprised by the odd negative review. The owner and chef Alfredo greeted us at the... More

We chose this restaurant from reviews on here and it did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is very quaint, staff were very attentive throughout the meal and the food was spectacular - we had the sea bass with Mediterranean vegetables and the "cook yourself" mixed fish with Thai vegetables - both were fabulous, fish was very fresh and veg was... This restaurant has great service and great food. We were looking for a different restaurant and it was booked out. So we tried luna. It's not on the tourist track and also has good fusion tastes. If u want to try good flavours and good service this is the place for u. 👍👌✅✅

Food was just Ok. We had two courses each. Nothing we'd call delicious but we paid 100 euro for it. Not worth it at all even in expensive Venice. We travel around the world and are very keen on food. We don't mind paying big money for nice food and we always do. Don't come to this place. There are... More

Were here with 5 couples. Asked for the chef to bring out his recommendations. He did a great job as we spent the evening with them. Would highly recommend.

Just arrived to Venice, tired after 12 hours travel and with luggage lost in transit (hopefully it will catch up)... So the mood not in the highest.. Thus , we go to the place 20 meters from our apartment and.. find a gem. The service people are very nice, friendly and efficient , the service itself reasonably fast, and the... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
