You will enjoy this outdoor Venetian restaurant which is a step above many of the nearby competitors. White table cloths and well dressed waiters will set the stage. A menu in 4 languages will take you through options for several courses with many choices. The fish appetizer is excellent and unlike any to be found in the USA. Entrees abound,... More

Very nice restaurant with quaint outdoor seating area. Fantastic food although we only had the pizzas so cannot comment on the whole menu. We paid €35 in total for 2 pizzas and 2 coffees which includes the 12% cover charge and the £3 per person "sitting tax". I think this is a very reasonable price considering the waiter service we... We stopped here by accident as it was raining. We weren't disappointed at all. The smartly dressed waiter was friendly and efficient. We only stopped for drinks which were very reasonably priced. Other diners were eating and their food looked delicious. We would definitely eat here if we came back to Venice.

We only wanted real Italian pizzas and that's exactly what we got! I had the Roberto special which was loaded - quite difficult to pick up because the dough is crisp but soft inside (unlike American pizzas). My wife had 4 cheese which is not quartered but instead is mixed. Both were very tasty.

We were pulled into this restaurant late in the afternoon after a trip to Murano. Just wanting to grab a coffee and a quick snack, we were greeted by a few not so friendly and moody waiters. Clearly did not like us. The food was okay, but then we only have a few bowls of chips, a tea, 2 beers... More

Nothing spectacular and people on here were pretty dead on. There is so much more available and better tasting. I will say the service was good and people were friendly and accommodating. I had sea bass (nothing like what I'm used to and wife and son had tortellini and it was just ok. Go elsewhere.

Stopped here randomly for lunch. Really good food with excellent service. The pasta was excellent, particularly the seafood pasta. Would recommend.

A couple of the waiters we had were a little bit moody, felt a bit annoyed that my lasagne didn't come with any veg or salad and had to pay €7 for a few bits of veg!! Nice setting and we got 10% discount but then found we had to pay 12% service plus money for bread and breadsticks which... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
