Had an excellent evening meal here. Was a bit of a chilly evening so pleased to find they had heaters. Nothing was too much trouble for our excellent waiter. Food and wine very good. Would highly recommend.

If you are just looking at a place to sit on the Grand Canal near the Rialto bridge, this will do. However the food was nothing spectacular and the prices were high.

I was very dubious about going into any restaurant in Venice and just assumed theyd be overpriced tourist traps. Im either entirely misguided or lucky but this place was actually very, very good. The waiting staff were great, very helpful, friendly, not in your face attentive but ready to jump into service immediately. I had the rock lobster head linguine... More

If you want to sit by the river, I mean right by the river, you have to order a meal. Pastas are between 14 ~ 18 EUROs. Don't expect great food. You eat lunch/dinner watching the Grand Canal. That's it.

With all the restaurants on this strip claiming to be the best, we just picked this because we could sit by the canal. Absolutely delighted that we did! The cuttle fish pasta is delicious and my boyfriend had a brilliant carbonara. Service was welcoming and friendly and the heaters outside made it a lovely evening. Really would reccomend this- and... Was hailed in passing by but did not regret. Attentative service and good food. A bit expensive as many restaurants in Venice but given location by Grand Canal who cares.

The location of the restaurant is very good. The weather in January 2016 was really warm, so we had the chance to sit outside. Price are moderate and the food is really good. We had 2 different types of Spaghetti. Both of them were excellent. If you want a fast meal, you can go here.

The pasta is average the service is average the crab crepes are eh. It's also overpriced. If you want to be a tourist and eat on the water, this is your place. They beg you to eat here and then act annoyed when they come to your table.

Upon riding the train from Milan to Venezia, my daughter and I got so tired and hungry and went inside the very first friendly restaurant we could find near our hotel for dinner. We were quickly ushered in by a friendly local to a table for two right beside the Grand Canal! It was surrounded by red flowers and roses... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
