Sat here and drink a Bellini whiling looking st San Marco and listening to live music. You can stay standing and listen to music without paying 21 euro for a Bellini. Free wifi and live music maybe worth it though. And no one asks you to leave you can sit for a few hours uninterrupted.

The temperature was cool but not cold. The skys were clear but sporadically lite by blue sparks. 3 bands were taking turns playing on St. Mark's Square. Our simple but delicious supper was satisfying and even of good value. It simply was M A G I C A L !

There were 4 of us who found this great cafe located right on the San Marco Square!! What an exquisite view of the Basilica San Marco (could almost touch it - wonderful background!!) We had originally started to sit at a cafe close by, and were told their was a salty "cover charge" since they had a band. So, being... More

There are many cafes around the plaza. We stopped here and just had beers and light snacks. The view was great. Service also great and we didnt feel rushed or pressured to order more items. Very pkeasant experience

This is a must do for us! Visit here upon arrival to slowly get into Venice spirit after overnight flight! Sit out in the beautiful long veranda and watch action in square! Coffee and service are excellent and you can sit as long as you want and take in sights and favor of this romantic city!

One of the best ways to enjoy Venice is to stay a night or two and wander the streets and enjoy San Marco when the hordes have departed for the day. We have stayed in Venice before and on a recent trip decided to sit at Grancaffe Quadri to enjoy a coffee and liqueur. Nothing is cheap but it's a... More

Another cafe on St Marks so you pay a premium but it is worth it in the evenings. We visited it twice to enjoy their music. Stayed from 10.30pm to midnight and had drinks whilst entertained by good mucians. Its a great place to sit and watch the world go by. The staff were polite and helpful.

We set there on our first day in Venice to enjoy the Piazza San Marco. When the weightier gave us the menu "book", we were shocked at first, but we decided its worth it, since we walked the whole day around Venice. The restaurant has a band and they play evergreen music so it was a little romantic. We set... More

Yes, it's worth it. It's worth to sit and enjoy a coffee or a drink despite the unbelievably high price. Because the view, the service and the orchestra deserve it. It's an unique experience which will not be forgotten. Is it as classy as it should be? No, it's not. Serving tortilla chips with glasses of Prosecco and Franciacorta is... More

Yes it's expensive , although much cheaper than the florian . It is a beautiful place to sit and people watch . The waiters were friendly and attentive and the music was beautiful . And with a view of the piazza San Marco it is heaven .

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
