It is a year since our last visit and it is still a great choice if you like fresh fish and good service. The mixed fish starter, black pasta and house prosecco were still a perfect choice, as was the red dessert wine. You need to book, as it does get busy, we look forward to our next visit.

We wanted something low key but high end for our 10th anniversary dinner! Friends recommended Corte Sconta and it didn't disappoint. there is some meat on the menu, but why bother - the sea dominates. Starters were excellent and the mains of turbot and tuna devine. We didn't have a pasta but they looked good. House wine was excellent and... More

I wanted to try somewhere that was less touristy or high end in Venice and was recommended this restaurant by an Italian. There were 3 of us and when we arrived we were asked whether we wanted Italian or English menus (one of us chose English). We started with the antipasti tasting menu which was great for trying different types... More

Haven't been here for years so good to see that little has changed. They now have a menu but still best to have what they recommend - the range of seafood appetisers. Strongly suggest you don't order a pasta to follow as it's too much. Wait and see how you feel instead.

What an amazing place to eat. The apertizer menu is stupendous. The most delicious fish and shellfish combinations. We had 3 courses in all. Pasta - monkfish cheeks with cinnamon and pistachio. Then traditional Venetian tuna in onions and polenta. And seabass to share. All delicious.

Carnivale and everywhere crowded. How good to find peace and time to eat lunch at a traditional restaurant in the back streets. Lovely seafood and pasta. Attentive waiter. Worth the price.

I came to this restaurant with a group of colleagues expecting a good meal considering the price. We had a set menu consisting of mainly shellfish of which I couldn't eat due to my shellfish allergy and was offered the vegetarian option instead. I wish I'd risked the shellfish as all I had was artichoke presented in various ways for... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
