We went for a lunch and arrived last minute. We managed to get a table that overlooked the lagoon. The food came and was very very tasty and very good value. The waiters were very pleasant and happy to recommend a dish. I will most definitely return here should i go back!

Right on the Grand Canal!!!! Venice as it should be!!!! The food was fine and the wine good. Honestly, it could have been a hot dog, who cares. With this view and ambience, the food took 2nd place. Actually, the food was good!!!

The food here was very good indeed, as was the service and the drinks, and of course the setting, on a terrace overlooking the Grand Canal and a Gondola station is pretty hard to beat. And to be fair to them, the three of us managed to eat and drink twice as much here (two courses each and two bottles... More

I have been visiting Venice for many years now and have eaten at this restaurant at least once on each visit. The food has been amazing and the service impeccable. However, when in Venice with a friend last week we decided to go to the restaurant on my recommendation for a special dinner. We asked for a table by the... More

I was just walking around and saw that the prices were somehow affordable. We tried the Spaghetti bolognaise and the Sea food pasta. Both were really delicious. If you are just passing by you can go there because it is almost like any restaurant.

We love this restaurant staff are friendly in a subtle way, they are efficient and helpful. Food is always good and the view of the Grand Canal and the gondolier station is both lovely and entertaining. Obviously it depends what you order and what wine you drink to how much the bill is! but this is front line Venice

Myself and a friend had not made a reservation here on a Friday evening but were greeted warmly and offered a table. The view is beautiful, sitting on the Grand Canal. All of the waiters were friendly and made time to talk to us throughout the evening which was lovely and a touch I appreciate. We ordered scallops and swordfish... More

My wife and I are staying at the Palzzo Selvadego hotel which is part of the Hotel Monaco Grand Canal, we have to check out there and pay the city tax, we were told about the restaurant as that is where we have breakfast and thought we would have dinner there. We had looked at a few places on trip... More

I pointed out to the server what I wanted so there would be no confusion. He proceeded to bring me a more expensive item (about twice as much) but, in my defense it was basically the same ingredients for both just maybe a larger quantity, so it didn't register that it was not what I had ordered until I got... Description
At the Grand Canal restaurant based at the Hotel Monaco in the heart of Venice, you may dine on a beautiful terrace just a few inches above the waters of the Grand Canal and feast your eyes as well as your palate. It is drenched with romance. And with breathtaking views over gondolas, the spotlit Santa Maria della Salute, and the island of San Giorgio, the Grand Canal wouldnt have to offer exquisite dcor, excellent service and fine food. But it does. The menu is based on the daily-changing fresh fish and vegetables that Venetian cuisine dotes on, as well as a menu of meat and pasta dishes that change seasonally, like salmon and swordfish tartare with lemon and basil or terrine of foie gras with pumpkin puree. If your plans include private entertaining, the Grand Canal restaurant is set in the Hotel Monaco which houses the amazing, historic, perfectly Venetian Sala del Ridotto, the heart of 18th century Venice, where the worlds first Casino was born. Host your wedding, banquet, launch or meeting here, of take advantage of the eight adjacent meeting rooms for smaller groups. The Grand Canal restaurant is a Venetian favourite.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
