This place is just great. Full of locals, no tourists. Great italian cuisine. My bf who is Italian, said that apparently pizza is not good. He is from Naples, he knows. But for me, pizza looked great!:)) He order pasta with sepia ink. I tried, it was yummi. I had gnocchi with gordonzola cheese, he told me that it is... More

Called in for lunch on the way back from Ca' Pesaro. It was packed wth locals but they opened another room for us and within ten minutes that was full too. A good pizza, carbonara and gnocchi and a carafe of red to wash it down - 0.5l was 10 euros which we felt was expensive but that aside good... More

Recommended to us by a local (who said it was somewhere she went to eat often) we ate her one night on a recent trip to Venice. We had not booked but chanced our luck; although quite full, with some tables reserved, we were found a table. Service was fast and friendly and the food good and not expensive. This... More

This is a fantastic place: you are met by the owners and the more than helpfull staff. Good food, fast if you want it. Honest people: other restaurants sometimes charge you a sevice charge on the bill, they end it with a discount!

Arrived on a Saturday night without a reservation. Staff were on fast forward serving a full house, however a very calm fellow took immediate care of us, being funny and polite. He organised a table in a few minutes, offered recommendations from the menu and made us feel very welcome. Pumpkin soup and baked fresh fish were very nice indeed.... More

It was recommended by our hotel for traditional Venetian cuisine, but it has neither Risotto nor Bigoli Pasta on the menu so if you are hoping to try some squid-ink risotto please look elsewhere! We tried the Sarde in Saor which wasn't spectacular as a dish but more of a novelty. The pasta with fish tasted reasonably good. Not a... More

Great local restaurant a bit off the beaten path. Service and food very good, very reasonable. Would recommend it to someone looking for authentic a Venetian restaurant.

Were taken here by a Venetian. The food was delicious and there were many more locals than tourists.

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
