Reviewed yesterday NEW

Very cozy looking place, with what appeared on the menu to be reasonable prices. The waiter all but bullied us into choosing the fresh fish, which was tasty but not extraordinary in any way, and which was only priced on the menu by weight (or some other measure). We were dismayed when we got the bill and the fish turned... More

I have been to La Patatina in San Polo many times over my trips to Venice. It's a place if you want a good quality romantic dinner it's certainly possible. Will you be crowded, yes. Will it be loud, yes. I happen to love the atmosphere of jolly diners. Can the waitstaff be overworked and a little surly, yes. In... More

Wandered into the place, which is a little off the beaten path, for an early dinner. Random choice. Turned out to be a real hidden gem. The waitstaff very helpful and patient with our English. Good food, homey atmosphere.

We chose to go to this restaurant after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. There was a lineup when we got there, however we were offered a glass of Prosecco to drink on the nearby bridge while we waited. The food and drink were good. I think they have a bit of a game going on though. When we heard the... More

We had gnocchi with granseola, pasta with fish and house white wine for 70 euros, so not cheap but the restaurant is nice and in a very cosy area of Venice (San Polo), with everything you need. Better to book a table.

Beautiful setting in a colorful square in Venice. Expertly prepared Venetian cuisine, served by lovely staff. Not your typical tourist trap. Rather a lovely dining experience that should not be missed when visiting this beautiful city. Ask for Frank Garbin and tell him Spencer and Nory sent you.

Get there early or book. It isn't cheap but it's worth it. Super seafood and, if you're not a wine pro, leave it to them. Check out the cicchetti - pure happiness!

The food is really great. It really is. But the service was absurd... we went out to celebrate in a party of 7 and ordered a great many things. All this to say that we had a legitimate reason to be there for a while and be jolly. We were constantly being told to hush, and not in a polite... More

Missed out on a recommendation and then found La Patatina. We were given a table which was then changed. When our order was finally taken the waiter recommended the market fish and an expensive bottle of wine. The food was reasonable but the waiter ignored or forgot requests for additions. We sat for about 40 minutes with the staff totally... More

We stumbled across this restaurant while walking through the streets of Venice. On arrival it was quiet but it was early, around 5pm. We were seated at a window by Burak and chose a lovely bottle of Soave, no sooner had we started to eat when the restaurant soon filled up and there was a real buzz about the place... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
