This place is not obvious to people walking from the Strada Nova to Rialto as it's tucked away down an alley. The tavern has an attractive rustic feel. I didn't eat a full meal here, so I can't comment on the food, but the house wine is good. It's possible to take drinks outside and the view from the jetty... More

Hard place to find, but well worth it. The atmosphere was great, full of locals, live music and friendly staff. The food was delicious, with a fantastic selection of sea food. A fantastic way to end our trip to Venice!

It was Sunday afternoon, I know. And many patron were taking drinks outside to the campiello. But- not the best to have your spritz from a plastic glass. And no complimentary nibbles. Yes, they have happy hour with very cheap eats buffet style, but...

Restaurant : Nice Place But Well hidden..You need a local of a good guide to show you this local spot. Very busy place , not a lot of space. Basic table set-up but this fits the style of the restaurant. (See pic) We made a reservation only 2h before our arrival, on a Saturday evening and it was easy to... More

We were given this restaurant as a suggestion from Our hotel. Somewhat hard to find, but worth it. Would have wanted to go for dinner but went for lunch. Great value with buffet. Good food, cosy ambiance, great service. A must in Venice.

Restaurant was recommended by a friend, but they refused to serve me. There were at least 10 empty seats, but manager insisted only couples would be served! This never occurred to me. I considers this: audacious denial of service.

As others have written previously, it is a little difficult to locate initially, but once found, it is definitely worth all the effort. We were there with our friends Lynda and Jeff to celebrate their wedding anniversary and their first trip to Venice. I am glad to say that Taverna del Campiello Remer made both celebrations perfect and memorable. If... More

One of the best restaurants to have delicious and authentic local dishes in Venice that is mostly visited by locals, it's not a commercial place it's a place where they really care about details, service and quality of food, amazing staff, fantastic atmosphere and without a doubt incredible food. I highly recommend it.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
