Everybody dreams of the ultimate "street people" restaurant: the restaurant that offers traditional local food, where the tables are full of locals, where the food is the local fare but cooked and offered with no frills, almost like home. Well this is IT !!! Typical, traditional food of Catania served straight up: no frills, no fancy plates, no special decorations.... More

This trattoria is specialised in horse meat. The locale is unassuming, yet traditional. Service could be better, but food across the board (especially the horse) is really good and inexpensive.

The format is the same, paper table cloths, meat displayed outside, paper cups but the service was... More

This trattoria is not in the most salubrious part of town, but don't let that put you off.The great food/ great value reputation that it has is well deserved in our opinion. Staff were attentive and helpful. We arrived at around 8.30pm but by 9pm queues were starting to form of people patiently waiting for a table! We had pasta... More

It was pouring rain, so instead of walking another 1/2 block to La Terraza Del Barone (it's now 2 months later and I still regret that decision), we decided to eat at Carlo V (it seemed to be just as crowded, but we didn't factor in that it's a 1/4 of the size of La Terraza Del Barone). The food... More

Just a walk away from my hotel was a nice looking 'trattoria' called 'Re Carlo V'.. Okay I'm not a horse eater. They also offer horse but they also offer wonderful pasta, chicken breast, grilled spare ribs. I loved their pasta, staff was nice, seems to be a locally known and family owned little restaurant. This is my # 1... More
