This restaurant was recommended by American Express, and we actually ate there twice while in Florence. The staff was so welcoming and the multiple courses of food were just too good! Starting with cured meats - prosciutto and salami, and progressing to pasta and Florentine steak. Very entertaining evening for all eight of us. Also the house wine was excellent.... More

After seeing this restaurant (and the steak) on UK chef Gino D'Acampo's show, it was a must visit for me and boy was I not disappointed! Going there with my wife who is 20 weeks pregnant, I was a little worried that I may not be able to have the bistecca steak that I had wanted (as she can't eat... More

This is a lovely family style restaurant that makes amazing meat dishes. We ate the veal chop and the florentine steak and the meat was so tender. Reservations are highly recommended as it is always busy. It is also very packed and loud so keep that in mind when you go.

1kg T-bone for 4 is enough. Lovely food. Good service. Nice local atmosphere. It was recommended by the landlord and didn't fall short on expectations.

Very traditional restaurant in Florence, i was in a friends wedding with few friends and we have booked a table at the back outside. I have been told that used to be a monastery or a military base before. The food, specially the meat was really nice. Staff very friend was also a plus. Do not forget to drink a... More

While the food was good, the atmosphere felt like we were eating in a cafeteria. There was little ambiance, the lighting was very bright and the room was quite noisy! The wait staff worked like they were on an assembly line and took little notice of us. We have eaten in Italy for the last 9 nights and this was... More

We were told that this was a great local spot, and we weren't disappointed! We had a 7:30 reservation, and when we arrived, there was a line of people in the street waiting for the doors to open. It was our first night in Florence, so we were a bit tired, but boy was it worth it. The house Chianti... More

All the food was fresh and homemade. The service was fantastic. This was my husband and I favorite restaurant during our week long Italy trip. I got the pasta special and my husband got the veal. He said it was the best veal is ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Much better in previous visits when you had a tasting menu. Now you just order what you want. They ran out of vegetables and dessert and we had a 7:30 reservation.

Description
Around the tables of "Il Latini" friendships are interwoven, all the world's languages are spoken, fervent discussions are held and everyone tastes food that has the flavour of the old times past. Il Latini means tradition: a means of discovering Tuscany and its people. The kitchen is where the best products of Tuscany's countryside are turned into the dishes typical of the tuscan tradition. Il Latini's kitchen was originally the kitchen of Narciso's wife, who used to take the dishes from her home to the cellars in Palazzo Rucellai where tables were set. Sora Maria's cooking was made of ingredients and flavours typical of tuscan cuisine, simple and genuine food that nowadays are still a characteristic of the restaurant. The flood in Florence did not spare the tavern, which continued nevertheless to serve warm dishes Florentine citizens among the muddy streets.

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
