We booked this place as part of a deal with Viator, with an opera performance at St Marks Anglican Church afterwards. We arrived at the restaurant at 7 (the time on the booking) only to be met with a stonewall response from the first waiter, telling us they weren't open until 730 and we would have to wait. It was... Living in Florence for a while a few years ago, I visited this restaurant many times, and recently again, and I never got disappointed. Not by the food, neither by their service. It's such a lovely family restaurant and the owners are amazing people. The restaurant is located in an old and traditional wine cellar and the food is typical... More

My last supper in Florence. Initially we went to another restaurant but it was closed for the Christmas and New Year period. So we decided to try Il Cantinone instead. The restaurant is located in the basement. As we entered the restaurant, a customer was leaving. He spoke to us in Italian. We did not understand. But I understood his... More

We were looking for some authentic food in our last hours on Florence ground. We passed by this tiny restaurant, that seemed to be located in the basement. Looking at the menu itself already had a mouthwatering effect, so we descended the ancient stairs and choose a small table in the gothic dining area. Waiters only speak Italian and their... More

Being so close to the Ponte Vecchio, we expected more tourists to be dining here. Not the case. I think we were the only English speaking diners in the whole restaurant. Fortunately, our waiter (and maybe the owner) is fluent in English. Food was delicious. We tried the house wine which was very good. The restaurant is located in the... More

Listen to the conversation around you. What do you hear? Italian with Florentine accents! This is where the locals come to eat. And you know what that means - authentic Tuscan food priced for the locals. It's value for money. Try it. You will be pleasantly surprised.

We went here on a recommendation from an Italian friend. It was a decent meal with a focus on grilled meats, Tuscan style - we had two antipasti, two mains, one dessert, litre of water, house wine for 67 euros. A decent price and we enjoyed the food (not so much the wine!) - well cooked but nothing standout. But... More

Egregious Madam, Thank you for your contribution, we do not remember her, but we can only say that when you write something you avoid writing silly things, but tell only the truth, we have not covered the 4 euro per person, maybe you have the wrong restaurant, and in any case in Italy is a legitimate thing, covered in all... Our last night in Florence and teenage Son desperate for steak we stumbled across Il Cantinone. The Florentine Bistecca fed 4 of us along with some salads and crostini. The 3 waiters were fabulous - there when we needed them and left us alone to enjoy the food, wine and beer. Great evening.

We started off going to the 4 Leones, but gave up on the line and just wandered down a non-descript side street and found this place. We had trained in from Geneva and looking at the one hour taxi line at the train station - decided to walk. After a long hot walk, we checked in to our hotel near... More

I had enough Pasta, pizza and gelato. I love it but after a week I need meat and potatoes. This place had it with salad. We ordered one steak for two served like at Peter Lugers in Brooklyn but cheaper. The service was similar. Think Brooklyn. The steak was tender and well seasoned. You can order by the kg but...
