We stumbled upon this small pizzeria/restaurant after finding that the pizzeria that we were looking for was closed. It was Sat. night and a number of folks were waiting for a table, some with reservations. It appeared to be mostly a local crowd on Saturday night. Even though we didn't have a reservation, we only waited about 15-20 minutes to... More

We were looking for somewhere to eat for lunch and stumbled on this quaint little place. It was empty as we arrived and weren't even sure it was open at first and made us dubious that it would be any good. We were welcomed in, though we sat outside. Our waiter was patient and made us feel so welcome. The... More

We visit Mastro Ciliegia every time in Florence and we have been visiting Florence every year for the past 15. Really good pizza and other dishes. Very nice house wine and a good wine list. Great prices and most of all a very friendly family running the place. Definitely one of our our favorite very casual places to eat in... More

Love this place, first visited 18months ago and liked it so much that went again on our next trip to Florence. It's very laid back which is good as we are on a walking holiday and in walking shoes etc. Food is fresh and delicious. Locals eat here too so you know it's good.

I've been living in Florence a half year and I can say that this is really the best place in Florence, the best pizza, the best pasta, the best service, I love waiters in Mastro Ciliegia!!! Really Italian place far from tourists, but still in heart of Florence. I wish every restaurant would be like Mastro Ciliegia!! Ps. Good prices,... More

First time in Florence and not a clue where to go. We looked on here for hints at nearby places to eat and this venue popped up. From the minute we walked in we were treated impeccably by the staff. They spoke to us about our visit, places to go and their local foods and recommend wines to go with.... More

This was seriously one of the best meals I've ever eaten!! The service was really nice. I was expecting to pay a huge amount but I was pleasantly surprised!

In Florence on our honeymoon, and bowled over by the number of places to eat.Just wandering about we stumbled upon this restaurant and it had a lovely welcoming aura and a great menu. We don't eat meat and a lot of places concentrate on bistecca, but here there were lots of choices if you wanted 'something else' We sat down and... More

My boyfriend and I went to Florence a few days ago. While walking around Florence we saw this restaurant. From outside it seems as a normal restaurant but once you go in you fall in love with it. We sat next to the window and we loved the atmosphere, the service was excellent and the food was so delicious! We... More

We went there for dinner and it was a very nice discovery : risotto, pasta were very as well as dessert ! It is freshly made and the owner was welcoming ! Try the pasta with pear and pepper : an original and very tasty discovery !

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
