So good! cakes and pastries to die for. Everything was beautifully light as well. The place is just lovely, could spend all day there.

Came across this little cafe / bar as I wondered around Florence. Great coffee and wonderful cakes, either stand at the bar Italian style, sit at tables indoors or outdoors. Only accommodate about 8 sitting inside and 6 sitting outside, small and personal. Will make this a regular stop when in Florence.

Croissants to die for, pastries with Pear and Chocolate to name just one. (I couldn't move on from that one) Just so good and good bang for your buck.

Coffee was excellent, and I couldn't resist, and I had to try their pastries. All what I tried was delicious. Place was charming, with a very friendly service.

This is a tiny Bar Pasticceria with just 3 tables outside where we sat, but it was lovely. A selection of tempting pastries and cakes served by a man with a smile. We had two coffees, 2 doughnuts, a large custard slice, and it cost 10 euros. Not bad for Florence.

And grab the defibrillator because you will have a cardiac event. The pastries, oy vey, so delicious. So many choices. Share with your honey what you select and she will do the same. Have expresso or whatever you want. Breakfast or afternoon delight. Walk off the calories around Firenze.

Wonderful value - so much better than the expensive buffets in nearby 5 star hotels. Excellent and choice of pastries and good coffee - central to car rentals and train station.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
