Wonderful Tuscan cuisine, excellent service, atmospheric cellar. Wines are mostly from the nearby Antinori Vineyard.

Best Florentine steak in Italy, friendly service. Absolutely need a reservation to get in. Medium rare, cooked to perfection. A little pricey but definitely worth it

Best bistecca alla fiorentina! Very local place and recommend making a reservation before going there!

I feel really lucky that I have booked this restaurant one week ahead. I have chosen the ham as the starter, and it has two bread with liver paste. Before, I do not like liver paste, but they made the taste match so well and I really enjoy it. The main course was the lamb steak. They made the skin... More

I ate here 30 years ago and returned. The steak looked great, and it should be for a serving for one is 40 Euro with no accompaniments, but I ordered the house cannoloni. They were good but nothing that could not be matched in a dozen Manhattan restaurants. Same for the deserts. Overall a solid B meal at A minus... More

So this is how it's done. My wife and I decided to try this restaurant following a recommendation, having been warned it was pricey. On arrival we were asked if we had a reservation (we didn't). They were busy, but with true style they found us a table. The service from our waiter was excellent; old school, like he'd been... More

Well-known for steak and I should have realized that it takes something special to impress a New Yorker (born and raised). This place is over-rated. The steak is enormous (too big for almost anyone), tasty and well-presented, but is filled with tendon and fascia (for the 3 of us). This made it very difficult, to say the least, to cut... More

So if in Florence, go here with your partner and split the Bissteak for two. A huge, Fred Flinstone cut of meat, which you won't be able to finish. Roasted potatoes and Chianti completed our meal. The open kitchen lets you see how the chefs work. Opens at 7 pm, but make a reservation.

We have been to Florence 3 times. The very first time I read an article in the newspaper about the restaurant. The writer stated, 10 yrs prior, he visited Florence and was recommended to eat at the restaurant, which was excellent. He decided to go back 10 years after that and it was as good as he remembered. The article... More

Excellent Service, although the food wasn't as "wow" as I would have hoped. Maybe I didn't order the right thing. For meat lovers..you MUST go there. I saw someone order a steak ...it was HUUUUUGE. Next time I go...I'll try :)

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
