Dined here on our first night in Florence, Booked before arrival and this proved very worthwhile as every table was occupied on a Monday night. The food is good and sensibly priced - not fine dining but it is not priced as such. The choice of Marchesi Antinori wines is excellent and not excessively priced (from around €25/bottle). Service good... More

Our group of five had a light lunch at Cantinetta Antinori, enjoying some fabulous wines and good food. This is one restaurant where the wine menu intentionally outshines the food menu in scope and depth, and the food is designed to complement the wine. The ribollita soup was particularly excellent and well paired with the Peppoli.

This is quite a small restaurant but the food was absolutely delicious. My husband had a mouthwatering steak whilst I had the prawn and sole dish, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The waiter was most attentive and very knowledgeable about the wines. Definitely worth a visit.

We went for lunch while in Florence and plan to return every time I go. One of my traveling friends is a real "foodie" and knew about Cantinetta Antinori. We asked our waiter what he recommended, and he did not disappoint. We just ordered everything he suggested. Definitely take your time to enjoy the atmosphere as well as the delicious... More

Cantinetta Antinori holds a special place in my heart, after a close friend recommended that I go there on my first visit to Florence 20+ years ago. I've been there a handful of times since then and ensure that I visit on every trip to Florence. On this trip, we were a group of five family women from three generations,... More

Nice restaurant with a history. We tried two kinds of homemade pasta and backed fish. Rather tasty but not wow! The prices are higher than at the restaurants with better cooked food which we tried. White wine Antinori was fine! The service was very good.

We dined here and a wonderful experience as the waiter and kitchen made sure our entrees were prepared as we wanted them. The steak was served medium rare as we requested not bloody as Florentine steak is usually prepared. The pasta with white truffles was fantastic as was the dessert. The Antinori wine we had was delicious and a reason... More

Cantinetta Antinori offered everything we hoped for. The restaurant is small and quaint with dark wooden furniture. It makes you feel welcome and "at home" immediately. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The menu offered a great variety of specialties from the region. We were up for a great treat! I had black cabbage on rustic bread as a... More

This place was recommended to me by a person who lived in Florence for 5 years. When you go here, plan to have a long lunch because you'll want to taste a few wines and you'll want to interact with the staff. They are so friendly and knowleagble of their product. We enjoyed various white wines and a very light... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
