If you visit Siena, make sure you go to Menchetti! I was there for just a few hours but went there twice because the pizza is soooooo amazing! It's better than any pizza I've had in Florence or Milan!

I should clarify upfront - Menchetti is not an independent store, but a pizza/bakery counter located within a large, gourmet foods-tore (Consorzia Agrario Siena, opposite Piazza Salimbeni) – I went in circles trying to find it, but I’m glad we (eventually) did. We popped by for a quick lunch – you wait in queue with a ticket, place your order... More

I tried their pizza and it was the best of all pizzas I had in Italy, great crispy dough and tasty toppings. The price was ok too - about 4EUR for two slices, you pay for the weight.

Menchetti is a bakery where you get good and reasonable priced food. The pizza is very good, they have several types of during the day. Ideal for breakfast or lunch to go

Make sure you grab a ticket and have in your mind what you want to order to keep things flowing for the staff as this little place is very busy. The pizza was delicious and filling for a very reasonable price.

So we were hungry in Siena and didn't want to get stuck at one of the touristy places near Il Campo. A few minutes north, in a swanky shopping district, we found the Menchetti pizza/bakery counter inside a deli (Consorzia Agrario Siena). They sell great pizza by the slice from big oblong pizzas with semi-thick artisan crusts that come fresh... More

Menchetti has some of the best pizza I've had in Italy. The varieties are laid out behind glass, and there are a number. I had two: a "Napoli" (anchovies, capers, fresh tomatoes, and cheese) and a goat cheese, fresh tomatoes, arugula, and tomato sauce. The crust were perfect: crispy and chewy at the same time. The toppings were excellent: it... More

When we visited the "Outlet Village" at Bettole on a Sunday in February we hoped to eat there reasonably but the snack bars were more expensive then the food deserved (4.50 for a roll) so we decided to shop in Penny Market and found a treasure. The queue was a bit daunting but the efficient servers soon got to our... More

They make great pizza for take away, fresh bakery and have a great variety of local delicatessen. Pizza with buratta and rocket salad is my favorite!
