We used to go for a good steak but last visit was a terrible disappointment: Service way below tolerable. Burnt (bitter) steak and waiter did not accept the fact claiming that a medium steak is always bitter... When I fail to make steak like this at home I throw it away. The place has potential though as proven earlier years.

Ordered the Filet de Boeuf cooked "bleu" (very rare), with frites and sauce morelles (mushroom sauce). I was very pleased. Two modest but sufficient pieces of beef, seared on the outside with a pleasant smoky flavor from the wood fire and very tender and rare inside. The fries were freshly cooked (still hot) and excellent. The morel mushroom cream sauce... More

This place has a pleasurable interior with normal range menu (without vegetarian meals), but they have excellent steaks. Meat is really tender and almost melts in your mouth. With meat, they also offer 5 or 6 gravy's. If you are near by it is definitely worth to visit.

La Chaumaz offers a normal range of food but the real reason to come here is their meat (beef, lamb or horse) barbecued on a grill using vine stocks from their own vineyard. This adds a subtle but delightful flavour to meat, and makes it something really special. Wine is from local vineyards. They have an indoor area, a terrace... More

This place has been there for ages. This shows in decor but the food is really good. The grill is heated with vine roots and it gives the meat unique flavor. Service is not the best and sometimes quite familiar. Great place to eat with friends and colleagues but not the posh place to show off.

Went there last week. Had the wild boar. It was wonderful - fell apart in the mouth, and full of flavor. I note several people have complained about service. It was a Thursday night, about 8pm or so, and the place was about 30% full, and service was no problem. Then again, we had a lot of wine and there... More

My wife and I went to this restaurant last night and even after reading on Tripadvisor about the slow service we were surprised about just how slow it was. We weren't served the main course until more than 2 hours after sitting at the table. I could forgive the poor service if the food was good, but this was definitely... More

I have seen several people have had bad reviews recently. This was not my experience. I have eaten there about twice a year for several years and was always very pleased with the excellent grilled beef and lamb. Our recent trip was as good as ever. The service was fine though not great. Outdoor seating is very pleasant. If the... More

Food is ok but the service is just not acceptable. We felt like intruders going on their nerves. We will definitely not go there anymore as there are other places around with good food and nice service.

I have been living in Geneva for 8 years and used to go regularly to the Chaumaz for the excellent meat grilled on fire from vine wood and the amazing fondant au chocolat. Even in spite of the variable mood of the waiters/owner, who were sometimes friendly and sometimes unbearable, I kept going there in large companies of friends and... More
