This place is a gem. Brilliant food, great friendly service and a very cool old building which oozes ambience. Full of friendly locals of which most are probably regulars. Outstanding coffee rounds off a wonderful Saturday lunch.

Visited Grottino Ticinese before Castlegrande which is approximately 10minutes walk away. So glad I managed to get a seat as it was packed 30 minutes into my meal. There is no english menu so I got them to serve their best dish (tagliata) and man, it was delicious. Though they do not speak English much, they tried to explain what... More

Am a big believer in preserving our grottos, a dying breed of restaurants unique to the area. This one is frequented mostly by locals, which tells you something right there. Under the same ownership for 17+ years, the atmosphere and wait staff are friendly, warm and welcoming. The food is fresh, homemade and good. Portions are generous. A good example... More

We had some very good food here, mostly the typical Ticino cuisine like roast beef and vitello tonato. We also had the very typical dessert made of chestnut... maybe not everyone will like it, but it was very good. Staff was very, very friendly.

The Grottino Ticinese is a great family-style restaurant. At lunch time it was filled to capacity with lots of locals, which says enough. We had the special, hamburger and fries. Recommended for an uncomplicated lunch with great service.

The restaurant is in a residential area near a park. We sat outdoors beneath big trees. For the 5 of us, we had the beef a la Robespierre (their specialty), pasta with butter and sage, pasta with pomodoro and cream, and prosciutto with cantaloupe slices. It was a satisfactory meal in a pleasant setting. It was also reasonably priced. Our... More

I went there for a meal with 4 other friends because we were told we would get a very good tartare steak. They were wrong and we got an excellent one! The portions were not overly abundant, tough we are all big eaters. Also the wine selection is very good. We appreciated very much that the personal let us stay... More

We were in town only for one day and we found the restaurant on trip advisor. We were late and the kitchen was about to close but they let us have dinner. We had horse fillet which was very fresh, tender and perfectly cooked. We had a typical Ticino's dessert that they called something like vermicelli, the Italian pasta. And... More

This stone building set in a park reminded me of the Peak Cafe in Hong Kong, but the interior was pure Swiss charm. People had raved about the steak, so one of our group tried it and said it was okay but nothing fabulous. The rest of us had the pasta with tomato sauce, which was yummy. The desserts -... More
