This popular and highly rated restaurant has been around for about 16 years and is located in the center of Alkmaar. We hadn't been there since we moved out of the area 8 years ago but were delighted that it was still as good as we remembered! Their menu changes every month and we started off with a gamba salad... The food was delicious. I found the waiter (manager/owner?) a bit too 'in your face' with his food and wine knowledge. It was a special occasion so some formality is fine. Was a bit too stuffy and pretentious for me.

We have visited this restaurant several times when we lived in Alkmaar - it was always our favourite in town. We now returned to Alkmaar (quite a detour, including an overnight stay) to enjoy this restaurant once more. Happy to see that nothing has changed: still the excellent food and wine and the charming service. Eric is an excellent host.... More

Not cheapa dn not an extnesieve menu, but what there is worth eating. Certainly very good dining in the centre of Alkmaar. Good food and wine, staff who take the time to serve you. Pleasant atmosphere. There is a glass of (different) wine with each course, you may want to order halves if you are a light drinker.

Some would call it old-world charm, I would say old-fashioned. No surprises in the menu, clearly designed to serve a larger group. Not very well cooked either. Fish sauce too heavy and fat. Meat overcooked. Decent wines to pair the food.

We love this charming restaurant. Chef Ton's cooking is uncomplicated and classic, his dishes are well and intensively tasting, with a perfect cuisson and nicely presented. No endless row of hitech amuses, but just good bread and butter on the table. No extensive menu but enough altenative dishes to please everybody. All based on the season of the year and... More

After 11 days and 5 cities, from Lyon to Brussels....this was our favorite meal!!! Romantic french-like interior that is beautiful. The service, by the owner, Eric, was such a treat. The wine recommendations, as well as the tasting menu we enjoyed were impeccable. There was a chicken confit starter that left our mouths watering and every foodie at the table... More
