We lucked into this restaurant while on a short trip to Amsterdam to see the tulips. We were staying near Oostpark and were looking for a good restaurant in that area and came across Elkaar. It is a small restaurant with a cozy atmosphere run by a young couple who seem to do everything. The food is extra-ordinary - certainly... More

Eventually, the chef came out and after a chat, we booked it for later that evening - so glad we did. We chose the set priced menu... More

The place is small and charming, away from the noise of the canals. The food is extraordinary and we were lucky as one of the waitresses was speaking Spanish! Even the chef went out from the kitchen to ask for our experience!

My experience in Amsterdam wouldn't have been the same if I hadn't gone to Elkaar. The service was magnificent, with both the chef and waitress coming to the table to check up on us constantly. Not only did this made the dinner much more special, but every dish with its own decoration and originality made the whole evening unique. The... More

Elkaar is a great little restaurant, with a terrace for drinks. French style food, with good wines and overall decent prices. Good location next to a large canal.

Lovely little restaurant, where the love for cooking is apparent the moment you step through the door. Good menu options too, catering to most tastes, and friendly waiters. Highly recommended!

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
