Breakfast at Gartine is the way one wants to start a day! I have no idea how such a small boutique place can survive in the heart of the city... it must have to do with the passion of the people running it! Food is of excellent quality, rich and very nicely prepared, interior is charming and one gets served... More

This wasn't really our type of food but that's more of a personal choice. The chef/owner and her staff were all very accommodating and the space is very pretty. I would recommend reservations because it's so tiny. I would suggest reading the menu to make sure it's the type of food you would enjoy.

We are US expats living in Amsterdam and visited here for a late lunch. We tried the brussel sprout soup and the sauerkraut and hotdog sandwich. The soup was excellent and the hotdog came with two all beef hotdogs on freshly made and toasted bread. The sauerkraut and sauce for the hotdog was really delicious. Be aware that they have... More

This little place is a blink and miss it restaurant and we are so glad we did not miss it. The food was amazing and the service was fantastic. We where also shocked at the low prices compared to other places! As with everywhere in Amsterdam seating can be tight and limited so a reservation would help you get a... More

Fantastic food. Went as a family of 7 and got a table easily. A really small, friendly little restaurant. We went for breakfast and were all happy with our choices. Great ham, eggs and cheese, and also some lovely pancakes! Well worth a visit!

The cutest place for a wonderful high-tea. Smack in the middle of the commercial shopping street district so I was surprised to find this little gem in this area.

I love to eat here; it's a real hidden gem in between the crowded shopping streets of the narrow Kalverstraat and Rokin. The food and service are amazing! Also the fact that there's only one 'Gartine' and the fact that the place is very tiny adds up onto the 'specialness'. All the vegetables are from their own kitchen garden and... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
