After visiting the nearby Anne Frank Museum, we dropped into this cafe for a quick bite. There were large windows on 3 sides that were perfect for people watching and a view of a canal in this busy area of Amsterdam. We had pea soup that came in a single serving lidded metal bowl similar to an onion soup bowl.... More

Husband had fish and chips. In a city renowned for its fish we expected freshly battered and cooked fish similar to the many markets. However it was a mass produced supermarket fish and disappointing. I had chicken satay which was ok but overpriced at €15.50. The salad hadn't been drained properly and waterlogged plate. It was busy on a Saturday... More

We had a nice lunch here on a chilly spring day. It was a very nice atmosphere. The food was good and the wait staff was friendly.

Nice atmosphere in the cafe. Found the service quite slow and the waitress forgot our drinks. The food was average and pricey.

The food itself was okay and it's a nice traditional building but it's next to the Ann Frank House so a typical tourist trap where you get the minimum and the bill is bigger than you expect.

An amazing place to sit and eat. Food was gorgeous - I had the stroganoff and my partner had the goulash! Massive portions,Friendly atmosphere and cat friendly or should I say friendly cats. All made for a lovely enjoyable meal. Found our go to place in Amsterdam!

The area is nice, great location. The food is ok.. We've tried the traditionelle dutch dishes, which was ok,but we weren't sure if it couldn't be better. However it's a great atmosphere inside. The restaurant sells goulash as well, which is a hungarian food, but please check the ingridients..in Hungary you never will find with rice and salad..😂

I stumbled onto this place still freezing from waiting outside for so long to visit the Anne Frank House. I ordered the hutspot and can't rave enough about it. Service was friendly and attentive.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
