The GEORGE is at a perfect place for me, I like this area! The choice of food they offer is very good and the food itself is of very good quality ... however: when you eat the same dish (I favor the Linguine with Lobster @ 22,50 EUR) you might see differences between the al-dente of the Linguine, the amount... The menu is OK, not very special. What is special is that they have a quiet big terrace in the sun. People from Amsterdam Zuid are a bit posh, but don't mind them and enjoy the sun! :)

Right around the corner of the famous Vondelpark with an outside terrace to soak up some rays during lunch. The food is great. The ambience high-end. The service is excellent. The price is right. Try the steak tartare

Had a confirmed reservation for a nearby Italian restaurant, which went wrong (restaurant closed). We went to George WPA and had some excellent pasta's and drinks. Good service, fair prices and a good atmosphere which is a combination of business people and friends.

The location is frankly all this place has going for it. The food we had at lunch was poor, especially the Reuben sandwich (lots of sauerkraut and a very thin slice of pastrami on whole wheat bread). Re: the service, it's definitely without a smile. There are too many great options in the area (such as The Seafood Bar) to... More

good location, mediocre food, crap service. You get used to pretty ordinary service in the Netherlands, but this is particularly bad, and on a regular basis.

Really nice place and great food! Went here for a family lunch after visisting van gogh museum. Strongly recommend the salmon and tuna pizzas. Not common pizza that you need to try. Can make online reservations

As you can expect from a bistro french style interior and food is what you expect. All tough serving soup for 9 euro's without bread is crazy. But that is the least problem of this bistro. Service is unorganized, slow, clumsy and far beneath standard. You cannot blame the nice young girl and boy. Untrained, no focus on the guests... More

Had high hopes for this restaurant based on appearance. Great location and nice appearance. Unfortunately, one of the fish dishes was cold and the others not particularly good. There are numerous other options in AMS to try before this one.

Thank FGOG

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
