Compares favorably with what we are used to at home. Entrees came with a small salad. Prompt service.

I like very spicy food and I was not disappointed with the excellent lamb vindaloo. My wife had 2 milder vegetarian dishes and they too were excellent. The servings were generous as well, and the service was good, though perhaps a little slow.

I have eaten here before and I know that the restaurant always gets busy and customers have to wait for tables. I booked a table for 5.30pm as we were heading back to Hook of Holland. When we arrived, the restaurant was starting to get busy, we ordered our food and it was promptly made. The prices are far more... More

We decided to eat there with my wife one night. What a bad idea... The service is horrible, food is just OK but expensive for what it is. And, they are not honest. Don't waste your money / energy there. We arrived late, at 11:00PM, the waiter told us to seat where a table was already set. The diner took... More

Probably the best Indian we tried so far. One of the best Dahl ever, the service isn't too notch and the restaurant is a bit outdated, but we were here for the food and that didn't disappoint.

Food was OK but the service was pathetic. The waiters were RUDE and didn't care about a simple request like adjusting another chair at our table for a kid. The restaurant is pricey. We ordered two dishes with rice and he brought only one plate of rice and said that its combined for both which surely was not the case... More

We were in a hurry to catch the candle light cruise, so had to pop in here for a quick meal and we were not disappointed. Staff was very helpful in understanding our situation and very quickly served what we ordered ( Roti, Paneer ki sabji and rice). North Indian food goes well aim with a glass of Heineken of... More

The staff kept insisting the portions are small and we should order more and refused to take order for what we had decided until we added more. At the end the ordered food was more than we could eat. Taste was average, which amazed us given the restaurant was full with people having to wait. I'd recommend to try Gandhi... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
