I cannot remember when or where was I treated so badly. After waiting for 15 mnts, being ignored by the waitress who served all the people who came after us ignoring us completely, we left. Never to set foot again in this unpleasant bad smelling place

Small and cozy. Fresh and tasty. Homemade cakes and amazing sandwiches, good coffee and fresh squeezed juices.

Myself and my fiancé stopped here to shelter from the rain and we were so glad we did! Delicious homemade food, welcoming staff and quirky decor. We had the carrot cake and rhubarb and strawberry crumble. I wish we had visited sooner than on our last full day in Amsterdam or we would've spent a lot more time there. If... More

Delicious cakes and great ambiance :) definately a must-visit! My friend and I couldn't choose so we got several cakes to share and they were all delicious.

I bet you cannot find otherplaces which bake tastier and fresher goodies than this lovely cafe! Basically melts your mouth! Best part is that you take part as fine spectator on a lot that is cooked over there! Great job done girls!!

Lovely little cafe - their is an endless selection of cakes, sandwiches and other goodies. They bake all throughout the day, so the food is wonderfully fresh! We went in every single day during our long weekend in Amsterdam!

Cheapest and greatest coffee in town. Their pastries are to die for and that little hidden terrace will make your day if the weather allows for it. Give a shot during sunsets, it's magical.

Really love this cute place, the savoury pie is really nice and the slightly minty lemonade is refreshing!

I sought this place out based on reviews. It was early afternoon, and my food was dry, bland and boring. I am not a dessert person, so did not try the sweets -- perhaps that is worth coming for? It was extremely hot inside on a wet, blustery day in late October -- uncomfortably hot. Seats were crates, some with... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
