We reached a bit late for lunch so the place was deserted but they were willing to serve which was a relief. The staff were pleasant enough though one man was quite brusque. The food was as expected.

In Amsterdam for only one night (Sat 22nd) due to a connecting flight, hungry and in a hurry, attracted by the "specials" prices on the window, my wife and I came in here for a meal. We ordered a coke and a beer (Heinekin) and two steak and chips, one well done, one medium. Steak & Chips at 10.95 seemed... More

Very good positon , just near red light . We had group reservations for 15 people and everything was just fine . A little slowly in serving but it's a crowdy place . Many beautiful paintings inside.

Average food, poor service, high prices. When we wanted to pay cash with notes and coins - as we were leaving the country and didn't need any change to take with us back home the waiter said it is not acceptable. After a discussion that we are not going to pay any other way he took the money.

The cafe is part of the hotel of the same name. Located across from central station. We choose outdoor seating over inside. The traditional Dutch pea soup was excellent. The Vienna schnitzel was very good. The iced tea was fruity flavored. Service was good. Would return. Hope this helps.

We went here twice because we really enjoyed the food, drinks and the calm inside restaurant. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The location of this restaurant is brilliant, just few steps from Amsterdam Central train station. We sat outside and enjoyed the views. Some of the dishes in their menus weren't available, I ordered half chicken and my wife got fried camembert cheese. The food was good but nothing special, the prices were average.

Oh, we chanced upon this little cafe/bar while looking for a nice place to have a snack and coffee when we were in the Ams Centraal area. What a find! We sat outdoors in the terrace as the weather was fine and ordered the dutch pea soup (erwtensoep) and some tostis and cappucino. It was yummy! Especially the erwtensoep was... More

In-door and out-door seating in connection with the hotel. Great selection of Dutch specialties with soups, fish, meats etc. Good beer and wine selection and sitting outside you are looking across the water to the centraal station. Service was ok but not more, far to slow for a slow days business.

We ate here on a couple of occasions and found the staff and food very satisfactory. We ate there a few years ago and hence we went back and found it not so friendly but the food was still good. Give it a try for yourself.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
