We booked a table here based on a recommendation from a friend. Hidden behind an entrance to an inner yard, squeezed in between sex shops and porn shows we would otherwise have passed it. Glad we visited, though. The location is very nice, in a...More

Blauw aan de Wal came highly recommended by our host. And the recommendation did not disappoint. The setting is quiet and charming even though the restaurant is in the middle of the red light district. And the food is incredible. We did a full tasting...More

Beautiful meal at this lovely restaurant. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We had the 4-course meal with the wine pairing, which was all delicious, especially the plaice with peas and girolles. We were so happy we booked to eat...More

This restaurant offered up one of the best gourmet experiences I ever had the pleasure to enjoy. We opted for the 4-course fixed menu, and also opted for the surprise option, that is, we didn't know what we would be enjoying until it was put...More

This quaint restaurant was outstanding! The staff was very accommodating to the vegan and gluten intolerant people in our group and that was with a set menu! We picked the number of courses we wanted and were served accordingly. The presentation was beautiful and the...More

Four of us thoroughly enjoyed the creatively conceived dinner menu and the friendly, attentive service. There is no choice apart from dessert versus cheese: you select a menu of three, four or five courses, and you get what you are given! Everything came with helpful...More

Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the
Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its
saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to
view some of the city’s most picturesque canals,
historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples
of traditional local architecture – not to mention
Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist

No, but they have a great selection. Their menu and wine list change very frequently, so they usually present options at the table. Great wine btw.

You can find Restaurant Blauw aan de Wal In the middle of the Red Light District of Amsterdam. Surrounded by the red lights, the swaying glances and the rich history. Through the clamour of the streets a small alley leads to an attractive courtyard with an old warehouse.

This is where chef and owner Daan Olthuis and his team cook changing menu with a modest passion and inspiring seasonal products. The extensive wine list is carefully attuned to the menu.
